About us
Our bookstore has been part of our local landscape for 18 years. Based in the north Oxfordshire town of Bicester, our local history shelves are well stocked, especially (although not exclusively) as Bicester nestles within Flora Thompson country— a popular destination for book buyers since Larkrise to Candleford was adapted for television. The bunting-adorned children’s area caters for all ages, and the younger children love the Bus Driver’s Cottage where they can wile away their time playing, allowing their parents precious time to browse the bookshelves. Events play an important role in fostering positive links with the local community, whether through poetry evenings, book signings or talks by authors. Recent visitors have included Korky Paul, Stephen Cole and Emma Kennedy. Owners Caroline and Nigel French are aware of the importance of the internet (the Cole’s website is at www.coles-books.co.uk) and social networking—follow Cole’s on Twitter (@ColesBooks) and Facebook (ColesBookstore).
