Harry Potter author J K Rowling has signed up with a new publisher
Her Harry Potter books have sold millions of copies around the world and lead to a series of blockbuster films, but now author J K Rowling is to turn her hand to writing for adults.
Her new publisher Little, Brown is keeping the title, the worldwide publication date and any further details about the novel under wraps until later in the year.
Rowling said the new book would be "very different" to her series about the boy wizard, which was published by Bloomsbury. "The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher," she said.
It had been rumoured for some time that Rowling was working on a crime novel set in Edinburgh.
Rowling's final book in the Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Bloomsbury), sold 2.6m copies in just 24 hours on publication.
