S J Watson's Double Whammy

06/01/2012 by Stacey Bartlett

Debut author S J Watson's Before I Go to Sleep has been chosen for 2012's TV Book Club as well as Richard and Judy's Book Club

The bestselling novel, about a woman who loses her memory every time she goes to sleep, was chosen by the two influential book clubs as their reads of the year.

Before I Go to Sleep joins the Booker-shortlisted The Sisters Brothers and Alexander Maksik's You Deserve Nothing for the Channel 4 TV Book Club, and My Dear I Wanted to Tell You and Jojo Moyes's Me Before You on Richard and Judy's Spring Picks for 2012.

About S J Watson's thriller, Judy Finnigan said on the Book Club website: "Wow. What a creepy, disturbing, unsettling and thoroughly frightening novel this is. I loved it. So compelling is Before I Go To Sleep that I finished it in two straight readings, before and after lunch. Only good manners and the presence of guests kept me from reading it during lunch. It is one of the most arresting debut novels I have read in years."

Other titles on the list include:

Midwinter Sacrifice by Mons Kallentoft

My Dear, I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

Yesterday's Sun by Amanda Brooke
