Want to write for Mills & Boon?
The romantic fiction experts have a publishing contract up for grabs
If you think you’ve got what it takes to write a passionate romance, the So You Can Think You Can Write competition might be the one for you.
Romance specialists Mills & Boon, alongside their owner Harlequin, are launching a global English-language writing competition, offering aspiring romantic writers the chance to win a publishing contract.
So You Think You Can Write will be supported by a free online conference at www.soyouthinkcanyouwrite.com taking place from 17- 21 September 2012, which will allow hopeful novelists to perfect their writing skills, and come up with their own tantalising, titillating story. The conference takes full advantage of social media, giving entrants the opportunity to spend a week with more than 50 editors from London, New York and Toronto, using podcasts, videos, blogs, live chats and Twitter.
Participants must initially submit a 100-word pitch and a rollicking first chapter, with a deadline of 26 October. An online vote, open to the public, will select 25 contestants, who will then be asked to submit a finished manuscript. Mills & Boon and Harlequin editors will then choose three finalists, whose manuscripts will then be judged again by online vote.
The winner, who conjures up the best amorous affair, will then be announced and awarded a publishing contract with Mills & Boon and Harlequin.
