Worker - a poem
12/09/2012 by Billy Letford
William Letford has been a roofer by day and poet by night since he was 15.
'Worker'
sweat the felt screed the cement
pack the joist level the cleat
eat the piece hammer the nail
string-line the future
raise the bones
build the skeletons
whistle the windows
into our rooms
hoist your brushes
sweep the sky
'Worker' is from Bevel by William Letford published by Carcanet. See Billy reading his poem here.
