Precious Ramotswe, seven years old and “the brightest and nicest girl in all Botswana”, wants to be a detective when she grows up. So when a slice of cake and then some iced buns go missing at the school on the hill and a fellow student is falsely accused, Precious is on the case.
This story and its narration is simply told and carries an underlying message of right and wrong that should enjoyed by its target audience (and perhaps fans of the older Mma Ramotswe too). The first part of the book tells the tale of how Precious decided to become a detective.  We also learn how Precious named her agency. A very nice story that should bring a smile to younger children and perhaps their older siblings too.
