World Book Night 2012

World Book Night 2012

Now in its second year, World Book Night is an annual celebration of reading which sees one million books given away for free. Tens of thousands of book lovers will volunteer to share their favourite from a list of 25 titles up and down the country and overseas.

Taking place on 23rd April 2012, WBN2012 will include hundreds of events across the UK, Ireland, the US and Germany. In the UK, the London Flagship Event will take place from 7.15 p.m. at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank and live-streamed to towns and cities around the country. A host of authors and celebrities will take part, including Mark Haddon, David Nicholls, Meg Rosoff and the Hip Hop Shakespeare Company. There will also be an afterparty and readings by candlelight.

In Edinburgh, Maggie O'Farrell will take part in an event at the Edinburgh Central Library, Patrick Gale will appear at Birmingham Library Theatre, Waterstones in Guildford is hosting a WBN Sunset Book Walk and much much more. See the website http://www.worldbooknight.org/ for more details.

And if you're a giver, or just taking part, don't forget to tweet! @worldbooknight #worldbooknight.
